What exactly is Connected Health and how does it work?
Connected Health is a family–focused online health membership designed specifically for busy moms struggling with chronic health issues who feel unheard by the traditional medical system. Our program combines comprehensive lab testing, personalized guidance, and step–by–step action plans to address the root causes of your health concerns.
Here’s how it works: You’ll start with our “Connected Cleanse” — a six–week foundational plan to reset your gut health. Then you’ll complete baseline lab testing at your local Quest facility, measuring 104 critical biomarkers. Based on your lab results and our proprietary health assessment, you’ll receive a customized six–week action plan targeting your specific needs. Every six weeks, you’ll reassess and receive a fresh plan that evolves with your progress—all supported by our digital resources, AI coaching, and community forum.
How is Connected Health different from other health programs or functional medicine services?
Unlike one–size–fits–all online health programs or expensive functional medicine practices, Connected Health offers a unique combination of three essential elements:
- Family–Focused Approach: We understand busy moms can’t follow complex health protocols that don’t account for family life. Every recommendation is designed to integrate with family routines.
- Root–Cause Diagnostics + Action Steps: We don’t just provide data—we translate your lab results into clear, manageable action steps based on Dr. Hartman’s Triangle of Health™ framework.
- Fraction of Traditional Costs: While typical functional medicine consultations can cost $500–$1,500 per visit, Connected Health provides ongoing support, lab testing, and personalized guidance at a significantly lower monthly membership rate.
What’s more, our program is backed by Dr. Hartman’s 25 years of clinical expertise and triple board certifications in Family, Functional, and Integrative Medicine—bringing clinical–level care into an accessible digital format.
Do I get direct access to Dr. Hartman?
Connected Health is designed as a scalable digital program that brings Dr. Hartman’s proven clinical approach to more families at an affordable price. While Dr. Hartman doesn’t provide one–on–one consultations as part of the standard membership, his expertise is embedded throughout the entire program:
- All assessments and protocols are developed directly by Dr. Hartman
- Our AI coach is trained on hundreds of hours of Dr. Hartman’s content
- Lab analysis algorithms reflect the same approach Dr. Hartman uses in his clinical practice
- Dr. Hartman regularly contributes new content to our resource library
- Premium memberships have access to monthly Q&A sessions to hear directly from Dr. Hartman
How much time will I need to commit each week?
We’ve designed Connected Health specifically for busy moms who don’t have hours to spare. Most members spend:
- 20–30 minutes initially reviewing their personalized plan
- 10–15 minutes daily implementing recommendations
- 30–45 minutes weekly engaging with resources and planning
The program is modular by design—you can implement changes at your own pace within each six–week cycle. Our AI coach helps you break down actions into manageable daily steps, making the process feel doable rather than overwhelming.
Remember, this isn’t about adding more to your plate—it’s about optimizing what you’re already doing (eating, sleeping, managing stress) to support your health more effectively.
Is Connected Health a replacement for my doctor?
No, Connected Health is designed to complement, not replace, your relationship with your primary care physician or specialists. We provide an additional layer of support focused on root causes, personalized nutrition, and lifestyle optimization that many conventional medical practices simply don’t have the time or resources to address.
We encourage you to share your Connected Health lab results and recommendations with your healthcare providers. Many members find that our program enhances their conventional medical care by providing detailed health data and practical implementation strategies between doctor visits.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes, Connected Health membership is available to adults 18 years and older. While our primary focus is on adult health optimization, we provide substantial resources for improving family health that parents can use to support their children's wellbeing:
- Family-friendly meal plans and recipes
- Guidance on helping children develop healthy habits
- Resources for addressing common childhood health concerns
- Strategies for managing picky eating and food sensitivities
For children with specific health challenges, we recommend working with a pediatric specialist while using our family resources as complementary support.
Who is Connected Health best suited for?
Connected Health is ideal for:
- Busy moms with chronic health issues who feel unheard by the traditional medical system
- Individuals experiencing fatigue, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, sleep disruption, or stress–related symptoms
- People who want a comprehensive, personalized approach to health rather than isolated symptom management
- Families looking to establish healthier patterns together
- Those who value convenience and digital support in their health journey
While our core program is designed with busy moms in mind, the framework is effective for anyone seeking a root–cause approach to sustainable health improvement.
Labs
Where do I go for my lab testing?
Your Connected Health membership includes comprehensive lab testing at over 2,000 Quest Diagnostics locations nationwide. These locations are conveniently accessible, with testing centers within 10 miles of most homes in the United States. After signing up, you’ll receive simple instructions to schedule your appointment at the Quest location most convenient for you.
State Restrictions:
Currently, Members cannot order labs if they are located in Hawaii, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, or Puerto Rico.

What exactly happens during a lab visit?
During your lab visit, a professional phlebotomist will collect blood samples and, if required, urine samples. The entire process typically takes 15–30 minutes. The phlebotomist will collect the samples needed to analyze all biomarkers in your comprehensive assessment. Our focus is on making the experience as comfortable and efficient as possible.
Do I need to prepare for my lab tests?
Yes, for the most accurate results:
- Fast for 8–12 hours before your appointment (water is encouraged)
- Stay well–hydrated (this makes blood draws easier and results more accurate)
- Schedule morning appointments when possible (especially for hormone testing)
- Continue taking prescribed medications unless directed otherwise by your doctor
- Avoid seafood for 48 hours before testing (especially important for heavy metals testing)
- Consider pausing biotin supplements 72 hours before testing, as it can affect certain results
How often will I need lab testing?
Your Connected Health membership includes a comprehensive annual lab assessment (116 biomarkers) to establish your baseline and track your progress over time. This annual testing schedule provides us with the detailed information needed to create your personalized health plan and measure improvements as you implement lifestyle changes.
For members who want more frequent monitoring, additional testing options are available at preferred member rates throughout the year. Many members find that the annual comprehensive assessment, combined with our regular health check–ins and symptom tracking, provides an effective framework for sustainable health improvement.
How soon will I receive my lab results?
After completing your lab tests, you can expect to receive your results within 2–3 weeks. Our clinical team will then review your complete results and provide personalized guidance based on Dr. Hartman’s Triangle of Health™ framework. This clinical review typically takes an additional week after all your results are received. You’ll be notified by email and in your Connected Health dashboard when your results and personalized plan are ready.
How do I schedule my lab visits?
Scheduling your lab tests is simple! After joining Connected Health:
- You’ll receive an email with a link to schedule your appointments
- Select your preferred Quest Diagnostics location
- Choose a convenient date and time
- Receive a confirmation email with preparation instructions
- Arrive at your appointment with your ID
Our member support team is available if you need assistance with scheduling or rescheduling.
What types of biomarkers are included in my testing?
Your Connected Health comprehensive testing includes 116 biomarkers across key health areas:
- Complete blood count and metabolic panels
- Comprehensive thyroid function
- Hormonal balance indicators
- Inflammatory markers
- Nutritional status (vitamins, minerals, fatty acids)
- Cardiovascular health markers (including advanced lipid testing)
- Blood sugar regulation
- Digestive health indicators
- Heavy metals screening
- Stress response markers
This multi–system approach allows us to identify patterns and connections that might be missed with more limited testing.
Are the lab tests medically necessary? Will insurance cover them?
Connected Health operates outside the insurance system to provide you with comprehensive testing regardless of symptoms or diagnostic criteria. Traditional insurance typically only covers testing when specific symptoms or conditions are present, which often means waiting until problems are advanced before getting answers.
Our membership model includes prepaid testing with transparent pricing, eliminating insurance hassles, unexpected bills, and limited test approvals.
What if I have a fear of needles or difficulty with blood draws?
We understand that blood draws can be anxiety–producing for many people. Here are some ways we help make the experience more comfortable:
- Being well–hydrated makes veins more accessible and blood draws easier
- Let the phlebotomist know about your concerns—they’re trained to work with anxious patients
- Consider bringing a support person to your appointment
- Simple relaxation techniques like deep breathing can help reduce anxiety
- Consider applying a topical numbing cream before your appointment (consult with your pharmacist)
Remember that Quest phlebotomists are professionals with extensive experience in making blood draws as quick and comfortable as possible.
Can I get tested if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
If you’re currently pregnant, we recommend waiting until after your pregnancy to begin the Connected Health program, as pregnancy naturally alters many biomarkers and would make establishing your baseline difficult.
For nursing mothers, you can participate in the program, but we adjust our interpretation of certain biomarkers that may be affected by lactation. Please inform us if you’re breastfeeding so we can properly analyze your results and provide appropriate recommendations.
What if I’m currently taking medications or supplements?
Continue taking all prescribed medications as directed by your doctor when preparing for lab tests. For most supplements, you can continue your normal routine, with these exceptions:
- Consider pausing biotin (Vitamin B7) 72 hours before testing, as it can affect thyroid and hormone test results
- If you’re testing for nutrient levels of a specific vitamin or mineral that you’re supplementing, we may recommend temporarily pausing that supplement to get a more accurate baseline
Always consult with your prescribing healthcare provider before changing any medication routine.
Implementation
How do I access my personalized health plan?

We focus on both how you feel and objective measurements to create a complete picture of your progress.

- Food allergies or sensitivities

- Personal preferences and aversions
- Cooking capacity and family considerations
Our nutritional recommendations are then tailored to work within these parameters while still addressing your specific health needs. Our extensive recipe library allows you to filter for multiple dietary restrictions without sacrificing nutrition or flavor.

The Triangle of Health™
What is the Triangle of Health?
The Triangle of Health™ is Dr. Hartman’s proprietary framework developed over 25 years of clinical practice. It recognizes that optimal health depends on the balance and function of three interconnected systems:
- Gut Health – The foundation of wellness, affecting nutrient absorption, immune function, and even mood regulation
- Stress Response – How your body manages physical, emotional, and environmental stressors
- Sleep Quality – The essential recovery period when your body repairs and regenerates
This framework helps us identify which areas need the most support and create targeted, personalized interventions that address root causes rather than just symptoms.
How does the Triangle of Health™ approach differ from conventional medicine?
While conventional medicine often treats individual symptoms or organs in isolation, the Triangle of Health™ approach:
- Recognizes the interconnectedness of body systems
- Identifies patterns that connect seemingly unrelated symptoms
- Focuses on root causes rather than symptom suppression
- Prioritizes personalized interventions based on your unique biology
- Emphasizes the body’s innate capacity to heal when properly supported
This integrated approach is especially effective for chronic health issues that haven’t responded well to conventional treatments.
How do you determine which area of the Triangle needs the most support?
We use multiple assessment tools to identify your priority areas:
- Comprehensive lab testing – Objectively measures biomarkers related to each area
- Detailed health assessment – Evaluates symptoms and patterns across body systems
- Health history analysis – Identifies triggers and patterns over time
These assessments create a complete picture of your current health status, with clear indicators of which Triangle area(s) need immediate attention. Many members find that addressing the highest priority area first creates cascading benefits throughout the entire system.
Do I need to work on all three areas at once?
No, and trying to change everything simultaneously is often counterproductive. Your Connected Health plan will guide you to:
- Identify your highest priority area based on your lab results and assessment
- Implement focused interventions for that specific area
- Create a foundation before moving to secondary priorities
- Gradually integrate support for all three areas as your capacity increases
This strategic approach prevents overwhelm and sets you up for sustained success.
How long does it take to see results with the Triangle of Health™ approach?
While everyone’s journey is unique, we typically observe this pattern:
- 1–2 weeks: Initial improvements in energy, sleep quality, or digestive function
- 4–6 weeks: Noticeable reduction in primary symptoms and improved daily function
- 3–6 months: Significant improvement in lab markers and resolution of many chronic issues
- 6–12 months: Establishment of new baselines and health stability
The timeline varies based on your starting point, consistency with the program, and individual biology. We find that members who fully engage with their personalized plan see the most dramatic improvements.
